By Natalee Elliott, Senior Operations Analyst, Scheduling Services
This summer, The Practice is pleased to continue our partnership with JLG-RICA (John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents – Rockville) by participating in a Tree House Stock Up.
JLG-RICA is a Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) special education school for students with emotional disabilities, autism, specific learning disabilities, and other health impairments, serving Montgomery County and several other counties in the state of Maryland. The vision for the JLG-RICA school is to provide quality education, care and support for all students who are admitted to the program. The school follows the MCPS general education curriculum and students are expected to meet the graduation requirements for a Maryland high school diploma or Maryland certificate. For more information on JLG-RICA, you may visit their website at http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/rica.
The Tree House is the Department of Community Resources and Development campus shop/boutique to help meet the needs of the JLG-RICA students. The staff uses the tree house in many different ways. It can be used for a reinforcer, birthday or special occasion gifts, emergency clothing, transition or mainstreaming gift. The staff members (clinical, residential or school) determines when the student has earned a visit to the tree house or they have a special reason to visit the student can pick out one item they chose per visit.
