Darren Morris, M.D. named Assistant Director of the ED, Virginia Hospital Center

EMA is proud to announce that Darren Morris, M.D. has been named an Assistant Director of the Emergency Department at Virginia Hospital Center.

Dr. Morris joined EMA at Virginia Hospital Center as an Administrative Fellow in July 2013 upon the completion of his emergency medicine residency program. As an Administrative Fellow, Dr. Morris sat on numerous committees and was responsible for several projects.  He currently responds to patient complaints, evaluates cases requiring peer review, performs RSI quality assurance, and sits on EMA's Clinical Operations Committee, where he has been responsible for developing EMA's approach to chest pain.  He is also completing the EMA leadership academy. 

In his new role as Assistant Director, his focus will be on the quality of care that is provided in the ED; and he will continue to work closely with Dr. Mike Silverman and Dr. John Sverha in ED administration. 

Dr. Morris completed his undergraduate degree at Harvard College with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.  He completed his MBA at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.  He then completed his Medical Degree at the University of Michigan Medical School.  Dr. Morris completed his Emergency Medicine Residency, as Chief Resident, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard Affiliated residency program.
