EMA is proud to announce that Nafis Ahmed, M.D. has been named an EMA Partner.

Dr. Ahmed currently serves as an attending physician in the Emergency Department at Reston Hospital Center and StoneSprings Hospital Center.  Dr. Ahmed originally joined ASE at Inova Alexandria Hospital in 2013 and then transferred to EMA and Reston Hospital Center.

Dr. Ahmed serves as the Liaison for StoneSprings Hospital Center’s Stroke Committee.  He also serves on EMA’s Clinical Operations Council and was the Lead on the Use of Antibiotics in the Management Cutaneous Abscesses project.   

Dr. Ahmed received his medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency program at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in 2013.  He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Amin currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Emergency Department at Reston Hospital Center and an attending physician at StoneSprings Hospital Center.  He joined EMA at Reston Hospital Center in 2014 upon completing his EM residency program.

Dr. Amin received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency program at Christiana Care in 2014. Dr. Amin is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Saad Amin, M.D. named an an Assistant Director of the Emergency Department at Reston Hospital Center

Congratulations to Saad Amin, M.D., who has accepted the position of an Assistant Director of the Emergency Department at Reston Hospital Center.

Dr. Amin has taken on a growing administrative role over his two years at Reston Hospital Center.  He started as an I.T. Liason to Reston Hospital Center's I.T. Department and to the Capital Division I.T. leadership and CMIO.  In this role he helped design and improve the department's order sets and documentation templates.  Early this year, Dr. Amin took on the role as Co-Chair of our Operations Focus Meeting, leading the joint physician-RN off-site operational meetings.

By far Dr. Amin's biggest role has been as the E.D. Liason to Hospital's new trauma program.  He has been a key member on the Trauma Steering Committee all year helping to get the E.D. and the hospital ready for today's trauma site survey.  He has done a lot of work on equipment evaluation and nurse education for trauma across the year, and was publicly thanked at the opening meeting of the site survey for his hard work across the year.

Dr. Tiamfook-Morgan currently serves as an attending physician in the Emergency Department at Carroll Hospital.  She joined EMA at Carroll Hospital in January 2014.

At Carroll Hospital, Dr. Tiamfook-Morgan serves on the Hospital’s Medical Staff Peer Review Committee and works a full-time weekend night shift schedule. 

Dr. Tiamfook-Morgan received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed her residency at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital & Massachusetts General Hospital in 2008.  She is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Prior to joining EMA, Dr. Tiamfook-Morgan served as an attending physician at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts from 2008-2013.  She also served as an Instructor at Harvard Medical School during that time.

At Reston Hospital Center and StoneSprings Hospital Center, Dr. Hernandez helped design each site’s ED Ultrasound program, credentialing process, and quality review system.  He initiated a training program for nursing for ultrasound guided IV placement.  He also assisted in the evaluation and decision on ultrasound equipment purchasing. 

Dr. Hernandez received his medical degree from New York University and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency program at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2013.  Dr. Hernandez is board certified in Emergency Medicine.
