EMA's Leadership Support Team: A Wealth of Experience

Donald S. Infeld, M.D., FACEP, FAAEM, President and Chairman

Donald S. Infeld joined EMA in 1981 and has spent his entire career with the practice.  He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine and has an MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University. Dr. Infeld has decades of experience as both a clinician and as a business person overseeing the sometimes complex economic and governance issues of an emergency medicine practice.  Over the past 27 years, he has provided clinical, financial and strategic planning expertise to assist EMA in achieving consistent growth and contract stability.  Most recently, under his leadership, EMA has developed a strong data capture and analysis program that ensures management will have timely data metrics available in a form that allows for both the measurement of success and the ability to derive data-driven strategies.

Martin H. Brown, M.D., FACEP, FAAEM, EMA’s Senior Vice-President and Chief Medical Officer

Martin H. Brown has over 24 years of Emergency Medicine clinical and administrative experience. He is Board Certified in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine and currently serves as the Chairman of the Emergency Department at Inova Alexandria Hospital.  Dr. Brown is an expert in all aspects of Emergency Medicine administration and practice. He works closely with EMA Clinical Directors who find his counsel invaluable in addressing a wide range of operational and administrative site-specific issues. Dr. Brown also ensures that innovative “best practice” strategies are utilized at EMA staffed facilities.

Joseph A. Zurlo, M.D., FACEP, FAAEM, EMA’s Vice-President for Administration

Joseph A. Zurlo is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and General Surgery.  He is responsible for all aspects of the clinical scheduling process and ensures that seamless staffing and on-call coverage is available throughout EMA’s multi-hospital system.  Dr. Zurlo also serves as the President of the Medical Staff of Prince William Hospital.

Jacqueline M. Pollock, EMA’s Chief Executive Officer

Jacqueline M. Pollock has over 20 years of Emergency Medicine practice administration experience. She oversees the operations and strategic initiatives for EMA’s multiple contracted facilities which employ over 370 physicians, mid-level providers and administrative and billing staff members.  Mrs. Pollock has a Masters Degree from Catholic University with extensive hospital and physician management experience. Prior to joining EMA, Mrs. Pollock served as the Director of Operations for Medlantic Health Care System’s (currently--Med-Star Health) non-hospital entities which included several urgent care centers, ambulatory care and long-term care facilities. Since 1987 she has provided management, financial oversight and strategic planning expertise to EMA’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

Greg Komara, EMA’s Chief Operating Officer

Greg Komara has over 14 years experience with Emergency Medicine Associates and has oversight of the business operations.  He joined EMA after spending 8 years in the medical insurance industry. He obtained his Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Maryland.

Dory Gordon, CPA, EMA’s Chief Financial Officer

Dory Gordon has over 20 years experience with Emergency Medicine Associates as she oversees the Accounting Department.  She received her B.S. in Accounting from Virginia Tech and is a CPA.
